State Routes 54 and 94 Improvements
San Diego County, CA
Rick
Engineering Company's San Diego office prepared plans, specifications
and estimates (PS&E), and project reports and environmental
documents (PR/ED) for the widening of two miles of State Route
54 from four to six lanes, and the widening of two miles of
State Route 94 from two to four lanes, including bike lanes
in both directions. Work included preliminary design alternatives
including geometrics, right-of-way requirements, mapping, drainage,
grading and cost estimates. Preliminary design was prepared
on Rick Engineering Company's in-house CADD system (Microstation/InRoads).
AutoCad and Land Development Desktop Design software was utilized
for Final Design. Design alternatives were prepared to minimize
impacts to sensitive resources including Vireo and Gnatcatcher
habitats, park lands, cultural resources, and the Sweetwater
River. The project included studies and alternatives analysis
for widening the highway adjacent to, and crossing, Campo Creek.
The project was funded by the County of San Diego with direct
oversight from Caltrans.
