To protect
sand mining operations from the actively flowing San Luis
Rey
River,
Rick Engineering Company's Water
Resources Division designed a mile-long
dike using HEC-2 analyses. Scour analyses using FLUVIAL-12
modeling were also performed to ensure that the dike would
improve sediment transport in the upstream and downstream
areas, and to create deposition rather than scour. The
hydraulic and scour analyses were processed and approved
by the County of San Diego and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
