Urban Design & Planning prepared
a General Plan Amendment, Specific Plan, Major Use
Permit, and Tentative Map for this 935-acre residential
development in San Diego County. The challenge was
to create a project sufficiently rural to satisfy
the objectives of the surrounding community. A development
program emerged that included primarily single-story,
ranch-style estate homes on large lots. The rural
setting provided lush riparian corridors and views
of rugged hillsides dominated by large rock outcroppings
and oak woodlands. An extensive regional trail system
linked to planned public and private parks, an interpretive
center, elementary school, and existing regional
open space/wildlife habitat areas.
