Rick Engineering Company provided a conceptual master plan for the revitalization of the historic Train Depot located in National City. Rick Engineering worked closely with adjacent property owners and the City to create an innovative master plan, creating a urban plaza, where street vendors and outdoor entertainment is welcome and encouraged. This was accomplished by closing Harrison Avenue and extending the plaza to the adjacent proposed mixed-use project to the east of 23rd Street. Opening 23rd Street to a two way traffic, with its landscape parkway, becomes a main entry to the historic Train Station. Located at the end of 23rd Street is a proposed cul-de-sac and focal pont with public art. An expanded joint-use parking area is proposed for weekend and evening parking and day use for adjacent business owners.
