Rick Engineering Company prepared construction documentation for improvements which included a basketball court, soccer field, baseball field, play area, comfort station, shelters, site lighting, park furniture, irrigation, and planting. Poor soil conditions for turf and plant material establishment complicated this project. Proper soil preparation and selection of plant material resolved these difficulties and yielded a project that addressed project concerns while being completed within time and budget parameters. Cottonwood Park was awarded the Ken Lee Award from the City of Chula Vista for its innovative design.
