OLYMPIC PARKWAY, CHULA VISTA
Olympic Parkway is a scenic road that incorporates
walking trails, open space preserves, a naturalized drainage channel,
and a major flood protection facility.
Rick Engineering Company's Transportation
Division prepared Environmental documents and Final Design plans for the
recently completed revisions to the E. Orange Avenue and Olympic
Parkway Interchange on Interstate 805 in the City of Chula Vista.
The improvements increased the capacity of the diamond interchange
to accommodate the forecast traffic volumes, and provided the needed
capacity to accommodate the traffic volumes generated by the events
held at the Coors Amphitheatre.
The improvements included the
widening of the existing E. Orange Avenue/Olympic Parkway Bridge,
the widening
of E. Orange Avenue/Olympic Parkway, the construction of auxiliary
lanes on the I-805 freeway, the widening and signal modification
on the existing ramps for the E. Orange Avenue/Olympic Parkway
interchange, and the widening of the southbound off-ramp to Main
Street/Auto Park Drive, along with the construction of noise barriers
and retaining walls at various locations throughout the project.
ASCE presented Rick Engineering
Company with a 2005 Outstanding Civil Engineering Project award.
